Sharing of Information
Other than database listings, we do not share personally identifiable information
with any other entities.
IP Address Logging
We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, and to administer
our Web site. IP addresses are logged to track a user's session. This gives
CharityPortal.org.uk an idea of which parts of our site users are visiting
and when. Your IP address is also used to gather broad demographic information.
We do not link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable. This means
that a users session will be tracked, but the user will be anonymous.
What's
an IP Address?
When you are connected to the Internet, your computer has a unique
Internet ID called an IP address. Most people that connect through
a dial-up service, such as AOL or FreeServe, get a different IP address
each time they login. Others might have a permanently assigned IP address,
called a static IP address. It is difficult or impossible for a web
site to collect personal information about you (i.e., your name, email
address, etc.) from your IP address alone, though a static IP address
makes this easier. |
Cookies
As part of our system the visitor is assigned a unique ID when they tick the
remember me box.
What's
a Cookie?
(we're not sure how they got this gastronomic name) are pieces of information
that a web site stores in your computer. Temporary cookies only last
as long as your browser is running. Persistent cookies are stored on
your hard disk (they take up very little space). Sites often use cookies
to identify repeat visitors and offer them personalized service. |
Links to Other Sites
This site, as a charity database, naturally contains links to many other sites.
CharityPortal.org.uk, however, is not responsible for the privacy practices
or the content of such Web sites.
