Currently the Society has over 34,000 members and it has offices in London, Leicester, Glasgow, Belfast and Cardiff. The Society accredits over 700 undergraduate degrees and over 100 post graduate professional training courses. Under its Royal Charter the Society is charged with maintaining and publishing a Register of Chartered Psychologists and with maintaining a Code of Conduct for its members. There is an attendant disciplinary system so that members of the public can be protected from any unprofessional conduct. At present this system is voluntary but the Society is working with government to introduce statutory registration.
