The Fund, founded in 1882, provides financial help for members of the acting profession who are unable to work because of illness, accident or old age. The Fund provides assistance in a number of ways all of which are geared towards maintaining independence and improving quality of life. Beneficiaries include the very elderly, those with chronic conditions and those suffering from major life threatening diseases like cancer, heart disease or AIDS. Support includes: Financial awards to help with basic living costs; special purchases such as customised equipment to help with mobility and independence ;help with convalescence following serious illness.
