The only women's organisation pledged to improving the welfare of the ex-service community, particularly that of ex-servicewomen, widows and dependants of past and present members of HM forces, auxiliary forces, the mercantile marine during hostilities afloat, any Red Cross organisation whilst serving with the armed forces, Home Guard or bomb and mine disposal unit. A voluntary, charitable organisation - non-political, non-sectarian. Funds are available for special requirements and to give immediate help to those in urgent need, besides making weekly allowances to over 500 widows and ex-servicewomen who are suffering real hardship due to old age, ill health or other difficulties.
